Remotivating yourself, once you are demotivated is one of the toughest things to do.
There comes a phase when you feel left out and abandoned, but remember you are creating your own way, creating your own journey, and overcoming all your limitations makes you stand apart from the crowd.
Anshu Malika Roja Selvamani is one of those who made her own identity and stood away from the crowd. A teenage girl studying in 12th grade, she is an excellent student, an author, a coder, a brand ambassador, an author, a programmer, a social worker, a YouTuber, and a winner of numerous awards in various fields.
She was born in Chennai and brought up in Hyderabad. Since her childhood, she was very influenced by her surroundings and the situations she had to face in life.
Life is not always fair for everyone! When she was in 6th grade, she was diagnosed with some blood disorder.
Due to her poor health condition, she missed school for months which made her left out and affected her bond with her friends.
She was mocked at, bullied, and abused so many times that she couldn’t take it anymore. Deep inside she was broken. There was a time when she trusted none, not even herself, she got negativities all around, she hated herself. But as it is said every dark night ends with a bright day! Anshu found peace in writing! This gave her immense pleasure as she could let her feelings and emotions flow down through the ink and get preserved in a piece of paper.
Now she is a published author, she has co-authored 30+ books, compiled her own book. She has recently published her own book named “The Flame in my heart”.
Apart from writing, she has an interest in coding and robotics which she learned when she was just 7!
It was a fine day when she was in 8th grade, while coming back from school to home, she noticed some children of her age working at the construction site beside her house. This is something that broke her. She felt devastated about their situation. Just to earn some money those small children were sent by their parents to work in the construction site. She felt grateful that she has was privileged and had access to education and she knew how important it’s in today’s world to be educated!
So, she decided to help them out!
Every day after her school she used to tutor those children on various subjects and helped them read and write.
Almost after a year, the construction work got over and the children moved back to their natives.
Now it was neither possible from Anshu’s side nor from their side to meet every day and continue their classes. As it said *Necessity is the mother of invention*
She came up with the idea of developing an interactive learning app where the children can continue learning.
She was the president of a coding club and so she took the help of college graduates who were connected to her coding club and developed the app. This app was used to help many underprivileged children.
For this extraordinary job, she has been awarded the Child Prodigy Award in the category of Robotics and Coding and also Best Social Worker 2021.
In the field of coding, she has received an award for the most innovative hack in the Girls Can Code Coding competition from IIT Hyderabad when she was just 13! Being one of the youngest participants.
She has an organization named Smile 100.
As the name suggests means to bring a smile to 100 faces. This helps 100 underprivileged children who can’t afford education get access to education.
These are branches of her larger vision and they are aiming for expanding it all over India.
Apart from all these Anshu is also the Brand Ambassador of MAYANS which is a handlooms startup. The company provides all types of outfits, tops, frocks, gowns, and customized outfits also.
Anshu feels very strongly about being a woman!
She has worked a lot on women’s empowerment.
Whenever a woman takes charge of her career, she is questioned! She is never expected to move ahead in her life, make her own identity and achieve any goal! Her world is always supposed to be limited within her family and kitchen. In our society, there are many dos and don’ts for women which are just baseless! Like being questioned on how she talks, what she wears, how she walks, how she laughs! Though Anshu’s family is very supportive and she is lucky enough to have her voice heard but at some point, she understood how difficult it is in our society to take a stand and move ahead for a woman.
In her career, she has won the Aaj ki Womaniya Award and Social Worker of the year award for working as an advocate of women empowerment.
The period of lockdown was a blessing for some and at the same time was a curse for some.
Anshu was one of those rare people who used this lockdown productively.
Being a fluent speaker, she participated in many national and international debate competitions and Model United Nations conferences. Her network expanded and she became famous among Indian speakers. She has served as the secretary-general of the YEF MUN Conference and the National head of Youth Affairs of YEF NGO.
Apart from this app, she runs an organization ART FOR A CAUSE. She laid her stone in social entrepreneurship through this. The organization was solely set up by her. The company works for underprivileged children. The company provides them with the required funds for their education from their profits and provides them a better living style. The company is registered under the Government of India. The company raises funds from its services.
The services they provide are digital illustrations, logo making, handmade artworks customized to the pictures given, digital portraits, customized holiday arts, customized prints on t-shirts, customized prints on mugs and key chains, and a lot more art products. Anyone can find them on Instagram @artforacauseindia and can have a look at what they provide and can buy customized products.
She always believed in flying and without any bounds!
As she has got talents to showcase in various fields, she is determined to utilize them in creating a change in society!
Being a girl who doubted herself to be the one who is confident enough to make the decisions that scare her and get out of her comfort zone has made her extraordinary.
