Merna- a beautiful bond of pure unadulterated love of Meera and Radha with Krishna.
Being a Yaduvanshi and an ardent devotee of Krishna, this bond became the foundation of my dream of launching my very own organic products brand which I fondly named Merna after the names of Meera, Radha, and Krishna.
I am Madhu, a Jaipurite. Being born in an Army family, I always dreamt of becoming an army officer when I grew up. But things took a course in another direction. It didn’t happen the way I thought but fortunately, I got married to an Army Officer and from there I started my beautiful family journey with my husband.
Now I am a proud mother of two loving sons.
After seven years of serving in the Army, my husband took voluntary retirement and we planned to settle in Jaipur. Alongside his corporate career, my husband thought of owning a farm here to keep us connected to roots.
Very soon, we started keeping domestic animals and began organic farming. We have many Gir Desi cows at our farm.
We get pure A2 milk and process fresh ghee and other dairy products there daily. This pure ghee, we call it, liquid gold because it is highly nutrient-rich and is perfect to give complete nourishment to the skin and cure many skin ailments.
I am using this liquid gold as one of the main ingredients in many of my organic beauty products formulations.
I was working as a teacher at a reputed school and served there for many years which used to test my patience and collaborative skills a lot. Later I was promoted as a coordinator in the same school. I had the good experience required for this job but I didn’t have the experience in the computer field which was required the most to serve my job as a coordinator. As I was not able to handle it well, so from the post of coordinator, I became a co-teacher. It came as a big setback to me. I was trying hard to make an identity of my own in the education field but not being technical savvy, caused me a lot of trouble and distress.
Very soon this stress and depression started showing up on my face in the form of under-eye dark circles and blemishes all over the face and my skin started getting dull and irritated.
Within few days, my friends, my parents my loved ones all noticed this difference on my face and they started asking me as to what happened to me all of a sudden.
I got worried too as I had no answers. I rushed to a skin specialist to take the treatment. I took three sessions of the skin treatment costing Rs. 5000 per session and ended up spending more than 15000 for my face treatment as I bought costly medicines and skincare products to cure my skin along with doctor’s fees.
Till the time I was taking this treatment, my skin started getting back to normal. It started glowing again but sadly after the treatment got over, within a month, I was surprised to see that the same blemishes and spots started appearing on my face again.
This dullness on my face made me really sad and made me face the true reality of commercially produced skincare products and medicines.
These products work on the skin till the time you take the treatment. They are chemical-based and provide just short-term solutions for your skin and hair problems.
I was juggling hard and getting desperate each day to get back my healthy skin.
My elder son noticed my tension and one fine day, just randomly he suggested I try few home remedies for my skin.
It suddenly clicked in my mind that he gave a good suggestion. I recalled that it was the exact thing that my mother, my grandmother my great-grandmother used to do to keep their skin healthy by using homemade recipes. I still remember them using homemade ghee, curd turmeric, besan, malai, and other easily available pure kitchen ingredients to do routine cleansing of their skin and keep it glowing.
This instigated the desire in me too research on it and I started searching on the internet.
With the grace of Kanhaji, I landed up to the skincare course provided by Kerala Ayurvedic Centre.
“Let’s go back to our roots again”. This was the thought that enlightened my mind after I read the course details and did research on Ayurveda.
When I started researching further, I came to know that all the skincare and hair care products which we are using these days are full of chemical ingredients such as parabens and sulfates. When we use such products on a routine basis, a small portion of them gets absorbed in our skin.
After continuous absorption of such products by the skin over a period of time, slowly and steadily, it works as a slow poison in our body and results in harmful diseases such as cancer and other harmful skin diseases.
I thought if we have options of organic products available, which are chemical-free and made with natural ingredients provided by mother earth then why not opt for it and suggest everyone to use the same?
So I firmly decided and enrolled myself in an ayurvedic product making course. After the successful completion of the course, I started making small batches of organic products at my home and first tried it on myself and my family members. These trial sessions converted my dreams into reality as I started getting great results. This is how “Merna” was born.
During these hardships, I used to manage my school work and Merna at the same time. Initially, my husband was reluctant to support this process as he wanted me to focus on my teaching skills but my parents motivated and generously supported my new idea. My passion, hard work, and love for my business proved that I was capable to handle both, my teaching job and Merna at the same time. Even my husband noticed that and gradually he stepped in and started extending all-out support that motivated me to achieve a perfect work and personal life balance.
I made aloe vera – Haldi cream and used it. It really helped me a lot in reducing skin pigmentation, dark spots, and blemishes. It gave me spotless skin within few weeks.
I used my homemade coconut honey cream which helped me to moisturize my skin. It is full of antioxidants that fight redness and skin irritation. This cream can be applied on extremely dry skin and cracked heels too. It helps the skin to replenish its lost moisture.
I also tried my haircare range of homemade products. I got the best results by using onion hair oil. It did wonders on my and my family’s hair. Regular use of Merna onion oil helped in my hair regrowth. This oil also prevents hair fall, bacterial infections, and dandruff.
Merna under eye cream reduces signs of stress, dark circles and rejuvenates the exhausted eyes.
