Social Media Profile
I am Nikita Verma, a girl from a small town in Bihar, but my parents saw big dreams for me. They never differentiated between me and my brother ever on any grounds, especially education. They sent me to Delhi to do my higher studies. They wanted me to be an Engineer and take up a job, that’s it. I fulfilled their dream for sure but in addition to that, emerged as a self-made personality. Now, I am a Lifestyle Blogger and a social media Influencer based in Delhi.
I aspired to be a doctor when I was small. But with time it kept on changing. Finally, I decided to do B.Tech. I didn’t want to be an engineer either but I think earlier we had only two options. If not Doctor, so Engineer. I never thought I would choose blogging as my career. I never heard of it before going to Delhi. I belong to Bihar. My parents and people living in my hometown still do not know much about it.
I started blogging in the fashion, beauty, and lifestyle field 2 years ago. Whatever I do, I give my 100% to it. When I started it, I had no clue about insights but I kept on working hard following my passion. I came to know that my passion can be turned into a career when I got my first paid collaboration and started getting recognition. I realized very closely that hard work never goes in vain.
Till my 12th, I was very studious and gave my heart and soul to academics. I was passionate about fashion and beauty too but did not get the time and opportunity to do much. So, after coming to college, I wanted to explore beyond that and give a shot to my passion as well. I started my blog with fashion posts and doing shoots for my page. Slowly I started taking this seriously and worked harder.
I was fat before I started blogging. I lost around 20 kgs which wasn’t easy at all. A hustle journey is different for everyone, so is for me. My hustle journey includes working on my blog, studying for exams, making my parents understand, giving back-to-back placement exams as my parents wanted me to take up a job, completing brand commitments, and many more things in daily life. My journey is all about trying to manage my grades and do excessively well in this new industry which I stepped back then.
I am very happy to share that I have got a chance to work with some renowned brands like L’Oréal Paris, Maybelline, Daniel Wellington, Myntra, Amazon, the face shop, Dermalogica, Kaya Skin clinics, Oriflame Sweden, Sugar Cosmetics, Bath & Bodyworks, and many more.
My article on sustainable fashion got featured in Maharashtra’s newspaper ‘Sakal Times’ last year. I have got many recognitions and features on social media about my work.
I feel very grateful that my work is appreciated and valued, and taken as inspiration.
My interview getting published here is an achievement in itself.
I think family support is very important at the beginning which I didn’t get for being a Social Media Influencer. Well, it was expected due to me coming from Bihar because it was new for them. Still, I didn’t give up on my dreams. In fact, I started working harder.
“Dream” was never to be just a blogger but for me, it signifies much more than that. It is about being self-made, different from the crowd, independent, living life on my own terms, having my own choices, opinions, and viewpoints, a strong and confident person.
After giving 2 years to this field, now my parents have started understanding and supporting me, especially my mom. She appreciates me and my hard work a lot and is proud of me, and that keeps me going. I want my parents to be proud of the person I am becoming.
I have got many criticisms on social media and real-life as well. Some people want to let us down out of jealousy and cannot see us grow. I am very emotional and soft-hearted; all these might affect me for minutes but I never let all those affect my life goals and decisions. I believe in myself. I know what I’m doing. We have to be strong if we want to do something big and unusual. My mantra for life is I go with the flow. I listen to my heart. I don’t pay attention to criticisms. I’m very focused and nothing can deviate me from achieving my goals.
I want to do much more than what I am able to do now. Just I’m not getting all the time, place, and freedom to be as creative as I want to be. I’m patient and waiting for the right time.
Just believe in yourself. Everything will fall in place with time. Keep doing your work, be focused.
Future is unpredictable but hard work surely pays off in some form. Hard work will bring you closer to success.
Making money is secondary for me but getting recognition due to my own hard work is something I am grateful for. My mom is proud of me is the biggest achievement till now.
I would love to work with the best of Indian and international brands in the coming years.
I also want to start my own label but couldn’t plan things due to the pandemic.
“Don’t give up on your dreams. Work hard to make your dreams come true. Nobody would do it for you. Learn to take your stand and fight for yourself and your dreams. Some people will always criticize you no matter what you do. So, focus on what’s good for you. Don’t copy others. Be yourself. Be original. If you start something, don’t leave it in middle.”
